SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR CASHMERE GARMENTS?
Contrary to popular belief: cashmere loves water!
By hand or in the machine, a cold wash even gives it softness and suppleness, notably by limiting the appearance of pilling. However, a few simple rules must be followed.
Please note, however, that certain cashmere items with specific characteristics (Cachemire light, novelty styles or fluorescent colours) must not be washed: always refer to the label on your favourite garment to find out whether it can be washed.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR CASHMERE GARMENTS?
It is recommended to wash your cashmere garments regularly, for example after wearing a jumper three or four times. They will only become more beautiful.
How to wash your cashmere garments
properly?
To machine-wash a cashmere jumper, dress or scarf without risking damage,
follow these 5 simple steps:
HAND-WASHING CASHMERE GARMENTS
To hand-wash your NOTSHY cashmere jumpers, ponchos, dresses, scarves and hats, choose a special wool detergent or a special cashmere shampoo (but never fabric softener, whatever the washing method).
Before you begin, separate whites and colours.
You can then fill a clean container (a basin or sink suited to the size of the garment to be washed) with a small amount of cold water, dilute a small quantity of detergent and immerse your cashmere garment (without ever leaving it to soak).
To wash it, gently press it with your fingertips or pat the fibre without ever twisting or pulling it. Finally, rinse with clean water!
You can repeat the process for each garment, making sure to change the wash water for each new colour.
There you have it: your cashmere garment is clean!
HAVE YOU STAINED YOUR FAVOURITE CASHMERE GARMENT?
Do not panic, here is what to do: clean the stain immediately with cold water. You can use your special cashmere detergent or a stain remover for wool or cashmere. Follow the instructions on the stain remover carefully, then wash by hand or in the machine, as indicated above. If the stain does not come out, take your garment to the dry cleaner for dry cleaning.
HOW TO SPIN-DRY CASHMERE GARMENTS PROPERLY?
Spin-drying is a crucial step in caring for cashmere jumpers, dresses, trousers, scarves and hats, especially when washing them by hand.
To do so, place your garment on a clean terry towel and absorb excess water by pressing it lightly. You can repeat the process with a second towel to prevent your garment from dripping while drying. In all cases, never twist or stretch it, as this damages the cashmere fibres.
HOW TO DRY CASHMERE GARMENTS PROPERLY?
To dry your cashmere garments in the best conditions, we recommend:
• Positioning a drying rack away from light and heat,
• Laying out a clean towel flat,
• Placing your cashmere dress, trousers or jumper on top.
You can let your cashmere garment dry peacefully: it will soon be soft and full of comfort again!
And above all: patience... it can take up to 3 days to dry.

HOW TO STORE CASHMERE GARMENTS PROPERLY?
Your cashmere garments do not like to be misshapen, so store them folded (avoid hanging them on a hanger or coat rack). You can store them flat in a well-ventilated space, away from light and humidity.
Placed in a garment bag, they will be protected from friction and dust.
Remember to protect your cashmere jumpers, dresses, trousers, scarves and hats from insects that feed on cashmere fibres… To do so, place a lavender sachet or cedar ball in your dressing room or wardrobe. Hung on a hanger or placed directly on a shelf, they repel unwanted insects and preserve all the beauty of your favourite garments!
At the end of the season, remember to wash your cashmere garments thoroughly before placing them in their protective bag for a few months of rest.
Also remember to replace your lavender sachet or cedar ball every year, so that they retain their full effectiveness.
CAN CASHMERE GARMENTS BE IRONED?
Some fine cashmere garments, such as dresses, jumpers, ponchos or trousers, can be enhanced with light ironing.
To avoid making a mistake and risking damage to the cashmere fibre, we recommend:
Ironing inside out,
Placing a cloth between your garment and the iron,
Ironing on a very low heat with a light burst of steam.
This will be more than enough to gently remove creases from your cashmere. Ideally, use a steamer.
HOW TO AVOID PILLING ON CASHMERE?
Even the finest cashmeres pill. It is an inevitable process, as it is a natural material that continues to live after knitting. Cashmere always contains a few excess fibres that come loose and inevitably create pills, particularly through friction. However, it is possible to limit their appearance. To avoid pilling:
• Follow the care instructions to preserve the fibres of your cashmere jumper, dress, trousers or scarf; this helps nourish the fibre.
• Avoid friction, especially with a handbag or other garments made from thick or rough fabrics, with visible zips, inner pockets with thick seams or containing hard objects such as keys...
• When pills appear, do not pull on the fibres: to remove them, use a shaver specially designed for this purpose, following the direction of the knit, without pressing and only occasionally. However, using a cashmere comb remains the best option.
We also recommend removing pills before washing, so that the fibre can then unfold with complete suppleness.
Your jumpers, ponchos, dresses or trousers will then be perfectly soft before being worn!
HOW TO USE A CASHMERE COMB?
The cashmere comb removes pills from your garments by passing it gently over the fibre, without pulling. The NOTSHY cashmere comb is made from cedar wood. A natural moth repellent, it can be placed in your wardrobe with your cashmere jumpers, dresses or trousers to keep these unwanted insects away from your dressing room.
