SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR CASHMERE CLOTHES?
Contrary to popular belief: cashmere loves water!
Whether hand-washed or machine-washed, a cold wash will make it even softer and smoother, particularly by reducing the appearance of pilling. However, there are a few simple rules to follow, as follows!
Please note, however, that certain cashmere items with specific characteristics (light cashmere, fancy or fluorescent colours) should not be washed: always refer to the label of your favourite garment to find out whether it can be washed or not.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR CASHMERE CLOTHES?
It is recommended to wash your cashmere clothes regularly, for example after wearing a jumper three or four times. It will only be more beautiful.
How to properly wash your clothes in
cashmere?
To wash a cashmere jumper, dress or scarf in the washing machine without risking damage,
5 simple steps are required:
HAND WASHING CASHMERE CLOTHES
To wash your NOTSHY cashmere jumpers, ponchos, dresses, scarves and hats by hand, choose a special wool detergent or a special cashmere shampoo (but never a fabric softener, regardless of the washing method).
Before you begin, separate the white and the colors.
You can then fill a clean container (basin or sink suitable for the size of the garment to be washed) with a small volume of cold water, dilute a small amount of detergent and immerse your cashmere garment (without ever leaving it to soak).
To wash it, gently squeeze it with your fingertips or pat the fiber without ever twisting or pulling it. Finally, rinse with clean water!
You can repeat the operation for each garment, making sure to change the wash water for each new color.
That's it: your cashmere garment is clean!
DID YOU SPOT A STAIN ON YOUR FAVORITE CASHMERE GARMENT?
Don't panic, here's how to proceed: clean the stain immediately with cold water. You can use your cashmere-specific detergent or a wool or cashmere stain remover. Follow the stain remover's instructions carefully, then hand wash or machine wash as described above. If the stain doesn't come out, take your garment to the dry cleaners for dry cleaning.
HOW TO PROPERLY WRING OUT YOUR CASHMERE CLOTHES?
Spin-drying is a crucial step in caring for your cashmere jumpers, dresses, pants, scarves or hats, especially when you want to wash them by hand.
To do this, place your garment on a clean terry towel and gently squeeze out any excess water. You can repeat this process with a second towel to prevent your garment from dripping while drying. In any case, be sure to avoid twisting or stretching it, as this damages the cashmere fibers.
HOW TO PROPERLY DRY YOUR CASHMERE CLOTHES?
To dry your cashmere clothes in the best conditions, we recommend that you:
• Position a clothes dryer away from light and heat ,
• Lay a clean towel flat ,
• Place your dress, pants or cashmere jumper on top.
You can let your cashmere garment dry quietly: you will soon find it supple and full of softness!
And above all: patience... it can take up to 3 days to dry.

HOW TO PROPERLY STORE YOUR CASHMERE CLOTHES?
Your cashmere garments don't like to lose their shape, so be sure to store them folded (avoid hanging them on a hanger or coat rack). You can store them flat in a ventilated space, away from light and moisture.
Placed in a cover, they will be protected from friction and dust.
Also remember to protect your sweaters, dresses, pants, scarves, or hats from insects that love cashmere fibers. To do this, you can place a lavender sachet or a cedar ball in your dressing room or closet. Hanging them on a hanger or placed directly on a shelf, they repel unwanted insects and preserve the beauty of your favorite clothes!
At the end of the season, remember to wash your cashmere clothes thoroughly before placing them in their protective cover for a few months of rest.
Also remember to replace your lavender sachet or cedar ball every year to ensure they remain effective.
CAN YOU IRON CASHMERE CLOTHES?
Some fine cashmere garments, such as dresses, sweaters, ponchos or pants, can be enhanced by light ironing.
To avoid making a mistake and risking damaging the cashmere fiber, we advise you:
Ironing inside out ,
Place a cloth between your garment and the iron ,
Iron on a very low setting with a light burst of steam.
This will be more than enough to gently smooth out your cashmere. Ideally, use a steamer.
HOW TO PREVENT PILLING ON CASHMERE?
Even the finest cashmere wools pill; it's an inevitable process because it's a natural material that continues to live after knitting. Cashmere always contains a few excess fibers that detach and inevitably create pilling, especially when rubbed. However, it's possible to limit its appearance; here's how. To prevent pilling, simply:
• Follow the care instructions to preserve the fibers of your cashmere jumper, dress, pants or scarf, this helps nourish the fiber.
• Avoid friction , especially with a handbag or other clothing made of thick or rough fabrics, which have visible zippers, inside pockets with thick seams or containing hard objects such as keys...
• When pilling appears, do not pull on the fibers : to remove them, run a specially designed razor in the direction of the knit, without pressing and occasionally. However, the best option is to use a cashmere comb .
We also recommend removing any pilling before washing, so that the fibers can then unfold more smoothly.
Your jumpers, ponchos, dresses or pants will be perfectly soft before being worn!
HOW TO USE A CASHMERE COMB?
The cashmere comb allows you to remove pilling from your clothes by gently passing it over the fiber, without pulling. The NOTSHY cashmere comb is made of cedar wood. A natural moth repellent, it can be placed in your closet with your cashmere jumpers, dresses, or pants to keep these unwanted insects away from your wardrobe.
